When I found that, who speak about Bhavana as an activity of watching thoughts and the outcomes of the thoughts of emotions and feelings, I concluded that they are at the initial stage of 'Contemplation' in Bhavana, which can be rightly called as 'Meditation'. Meditation means 'to think'. Hence, they are thinking on Thoughts, emotions and feeling, which are on the surface level of the mind.
This 'contemplation' or 'meditation' is the necessary, an initial activity to identify thoughts, emotions and feelings as Anger, Desire, Lust and Ignorance, which would help in the next stage, where the practitioner of Bhavana, when a thought or other things arise, he does not no longer needs to find out what it is, but to just acknowledge them as either anger, desire, lust or ignorance, and come back to the subject of Bhavana, that is maintaining 'Attention' (Manasikaraya) on breathing.
But gradually I understood that they are emphasising, that Bhavana practice is not valid, because one cannot put away the thinking in order to come to the perfect 'Sati' on breathing. This I could not agree as I have done it. Then I found out this is based on the belief on Krishnamurti's teaching. I felt, this emphasis on that Bhavana as not valid, because they were later addition to Buddhist Scriptures, and thoughts arising on its own without a reason, therefore it cannot be put away, etc. would lead to 'Doubt' in one's Bhavana practice, where the practitioner would 'Doubt' the possibility of having the 'Sati' established on breathing.
'Doubt' is the one of five obstacles (5 Nivaranas) to Bhavana, and instead of finding ways to reduce the 'doubt', if the teacher himself promotes it, can the practitioner of Bhavana, ever come to 'Sati'?
So I felt a need to understand this situation and to enlighten the people, the wrong instructions given by some teachers (Godwin, Upul) and to correct them.
Having this question in my mind I was unconsciously gathering data on the Krishanamurti's teaching, and about four years back, I found Krishanamurti discussion forums in the internet and able to gather more and more data, which led one day 'Understanding Jiddu Krihanamurti' had dawned on me.
