The first idea I came across, which was new to me, in the discussion is about 'Experience', with some of the people. When I spoke about my experience of Samadi, they used to emphasise that they want to discuss only one's experiences. This I could not understand at that time as I was speaking about my experience.
For example if I say that by 'labelling' technique that one can end the thinking, some of those people would say, "Why do you say things, which are in the books? Just speak about your 'experiences' ". But that is what I had experienced. When I labelled the thoughts and thinking, they stop.
And the real puzzle was, they were saying that I was speaking of the things, which were in Buddhist Books and scriptures.
The next idea which those people entertained and discussed was, let me say, a meditation method, rather than Bhavana, because such a thing does not exists in Buddhist practice, is 'Choice-less Awareness'.
There was a discussion in the main meditation hall, by a group of people who Belong to a society, who practice meditation. (The word meditation I use in relation to all practices which are not Bhavana, which are not Buddhist practices.)
One Dr. Mrs. Ariyaratna was conducting the discussion and she said, there is no need to put away thoughts, but just to be aware of them when they arise, when they remain and to be aware when they disappear. This mediation technique she names as Choice-less Awareness, for which I did not pay interest as thinking and thoughts were not a problem for me, on my Samadi.
But the most surprising thing came when she declared, "This is what even Lord Buddha did, as thoughts cannot be put away by anyone".
I thought, "Here I am who experience different stages of Samadi, where not a single thought do arise. Then did I have achieved something even the Lord Buddha could not do?"
Further I thought, "That Lord Buddha has said that Nibbana (Enlightenment) means the eradication of Anger, Desire, Lust and Ignorance. Then what kind of thoughts can arise in him? etc."
The next interesting thing is about discussing the 'Mind', with the same group of people, which I would cover in the next post.
